About Me

My name is Alena Dowdy, and I have been playing piano for 20 years. I started teaching beginner piano when I was 18 years old right after I graduated high school. I have competed in many piano competitions and have had multiple recitals each year. I also sing, play flute and guitar, and compose. I have passion for music and for teaching others not just "how to play the piano", but also reading sheet music, perfecting their performance style, and music theory. I can't wait to meet you and begin our musical journey together! It's going to be so much fun!

Prices

What:

30-minute lessons, 4 per month. I use Faber Piano Adventures lesson books, which teaches theory, performance, and technique.

Who:

This is a BEGINNER piano course. Primarily geared for 1st-6th grade ages, but other ages are welcome upon inquiry.

When:

Reach out and we will find a time that fits both our schedules.

Cost:

The first lesson is free! You can try it out, and if you’re not a fan, that’s ok! If you would like to continue lessons, it’s $120 per month. That’s $30 per 30-minute lesson. * After the first lesson, you will pay $30 for books. This is not included in the monthly cost of $120. *

Make-up lessons: You are able to make up for lost time if you or I have an emergency and have to cancel lessons for the week. You can either choose another day to come or add 15 minutes onto two lessons so you don’t lose out on any money. During December through March, I do not charge for missed lessons due to heavy winter weather if it can not be rescheduled. Outside of these months, I do not offer refunds.
